My happy place is working in my woodshop where I get to create fun and meaningful items. Once I finish cutting and sanding the wood I use my Glowforge laser to add messages I have been reflecting about. For years I made items for friends and family and now I am sharing my creativity with you. If you would like to order an available item, just click on the order button at the top or bottom of this page. Please remember to include the item number along with the name of the item for your purchase. Thank you for being interested in my work. Update: I just acquired a new batch of live edge wood so check back soon for more options!
Item 1
Wood Coaster

$15 plus shipping
I wrote the words on this coaster in 2022 while working in a medical office providing mental health care. Each month I made tangible items that I handed out to remind colleagues about the importance of their mental health and one of the months I decided to make coasters for everyone. My healthcare colleagues were good at providing care and compassion for our patients, but I noticed they frequently overlooked their own self-care. Finding the balance between offering compassion and care to others alongside offering it to ourselves is important for our well-being. I hope this message about finding balance has just as much meaning for you as it does for me and my former colleagues because you are truly worth receiving your own kindest act.
Each solid wood coaster is laser engraved and arrives in a gift box. Oil base polyurethane has been applied to the surface and a cork base has been added to the bottom of the coaster to protect furniture. Dimensions - .5-inch thickness, 4.4-inch diameter. Some variations in dimension may occur depending on wood type. Coaster shown in photo is made out of poplar.
Item 2
Wood Cross
$15 plus shipping
I began making this wood cross in 2003 to be given to 400 attendees at a retreat where I was asked to share the story of the tragic death of my mother when I was 16 years old. I have included the story I wrote about my experience of cutting the crosses and why I attach the cutout of the broken heart to the base of each cross. May this cross be a reminder that you are worthy of love and accepted just the way you are.
This 4-inch wood cross comes in a gift box. A leather cord has been attached to the top of the cross for hanging if desired. I will be making this cross in larger sizes and it will be free standing but for now this style is all I have available. Until then, if you would like your cross as free-standing without the cord, please let me know and I will be happy to adjust the pattern and make one for you.

You Are Enough (one of a kind) Live Edge Cedar

For many years I would tell myself these words, but life experiences made them hard to believe. I have a feeling I'm not alone. Being a natural caregiver, I learned to become a fixer, a problem-solver, someone who focused on offering compassion and care toward others because it was less complicated and felt more "right" than noticing what care and compassion my struggling self might need from me. It also became a way of feeling worthy and accepted. Maybe that is your story too. My journey with learning about self-compassion has helped me nurture the parts of me that aren't sure if this saying is true. I made this as a reminder that our worth and value isn't connected to our actions and behaviors. Your story is important and matters. You matter. My hope for you is that if you choose this unique piece, it will compassionately remind you about your own uniqueness that deserves to know you are enough just the way you are.

Hummingbird With Verse (one of a kind) Live Edge Cedar

I love hummingbirds and I hope you do too. I chose this verse as a reminder that even the hummingbirds are important to God. In 2024 I watched a documentary about hummingbirds that I will never forget. Each type has unique characteristics and skills that allows a relationship with equally unique flowers. God has gifted each of us with uniqueness, skills and abilities that we sometimes compare to others and wonder why we are not good enough. Because of our wounds, we forget that it's not about good enough but about who we are in our uniqueness. No one else can offer what you offer or has your unique perspective. If you choose to purchase this piece I made, I hope it reminds you that God has designed and equipped you with exactly what you need and rejoices over you as he offers you rest in his love.

Item 5
Self-compassion (one of a kind) Live Edge Cedar

$20 plus shipping
I wrote this message about self-compassion as an attempt to tie our journey from morning into evening, recognizing that a whole bunch of things can impact the day. Some are fun, some are not so fun, but we remain the same, unique person all through the day as we experience a variety of situations, emotions and thoughts. I originally wrote the word gratitude but wanted to emphasize that noticing self-gratitude is a little different than an overall feeling of gratefulness at the end of the day. We miss out on some very important things when we don't take the time to notice. Having self-compassion throughout the day can look like a variety of things but at the core of it is noticing when we might need our own compassion, kindness and gratitude. Even noticing and nurturing an enjoyable moment is self-compassion. I hope this message helps you ponder deeply about yourself and reminds you that you are designed to be the best caregiver of you.

Self-compassion Tall, Narrow

I wrote this as the summary statement for the compassion coasters I make (see above). It is meant to be a reminder that self-care is important and includes self-compassion and self-kindness. If all or most of our kind acts are going outward toward other people and their needs, then we are not being totally compassionate because we are leaving ourselves behind to not experience our own compassionate care. Self-compassion can look like a lot of things but at the core of it is noticing. Doesn't it make sense that we are not able to work on what we don't notice? Focusing only on others without balance will cause us to diminish and overlook our own needs. I hope the message on this coaster reminds you that you are worth your own compassionate care. Plus, I kind of think we're the best ones for the job, don't you?

Keep Writing Vertical

I knew as a child I wanted to write a book someday, but life has a way of disrupting the process. I originally wrote this as a message to myself in 2023 and engraved it on a wooden heart as a reminder to be self-compassionate when I struggled with writer's block or putting the "right" words together. It was also a self-reminder that when I believed someone else "beat me to it" that my book is my book and no one else can write my version of it but me. The same is for you. I hope this message encourages you to keep writing. The world needs to hear your story.
P.S. Just in case you are like me and have an inner editor that notices words, I intentionally used the informal version nobody instead of no one because I believe that's how our encourager parts speak. I wish you could see my knowing smile for those who noticed!
